DUNYA bedeutet Welt. DUNYA klingt, als wäre ihre Musik den Zeilen eines Märchenbuches entsprungen und lädt sanft in eine mystische Welt ein. Mal auf Türkisch, mal auf Englisch – die Formation um Banu, Lukas, Mike, Seb und Christian schafft sowohl textlich als auch musikalisch bunte Kontraste. Heller Psychedelic-Rock umspielt zarte Dream-Pop-Passagen. Dabei bleiben DUNYA immer mit beiden Beinen fest auf dem Boden und geht auch mit Psychedelic- und Krautrock der 70er Jahre in groovigen Dialog. DUNYA zeigen, dass sie nicht nur dynamisches Riffing und weite Klanglandschaften beherrschen, sondern diese auch nahtlos ineinander übergehen lassen können. In einer präzise orchestrierten Symbiose schließen verspielte Synthesizer und barbarische Fuzz-Gitarren Frieden, nach dem sich die Band in ihren Texten spürbar sehnt.
DUNYA means world. DUNYA sounds as if their music had sprung from the lines of a storybook and gently invites you into a mystical world. Sometimes in Turkish, sometimes in English – the formation around Banu, Lukas, Mike, Seb and Christian creates colourful contrasts both lyrically and musically. Bright psychedelic rock plays around tender dream pop passages. At the same time, DUNYA always keep both feet firmly on the ground and also enter into groovy dialogue with psychedelic and Krautrock of the 70s. DUNYA show that they are not only masters of dynamic riffing and wide soundscapes, but can also let them seamlessly merge. In a precisely orchestrated symbiosis, playful synthesizers and barbaric fuzz guitars make peace, which the band longs for tangibly in their lyrics.
