13YC aka 13 YEAR CICADA sind 3 Freund:innen, die Sampler und Instrumente spielen: Philip spielt Schlagzeug plus Sampler, Hotti spielt Bass plus Sampler, Zooey spielt Keys/Gesang plus Sampler. Ihre gemeinsame Reise als Band dauert seit sieben Jahren an und ihr Zusammenwachsen als menschliche und musikalische Spieler:innen verspricht, dass noch viele weitere folgen werden. Sie haben alle Jazzhintergrund, dem sie aber dankenswerterweise frühzeitig entkommen sind. Nicht aus Mangel an Liebe für das Genre, sondern weil es ihnen wichtig war, weniger Teil einer elitären und mehr in DIY-Strukturen zu wachsen. Und zugegebenermaßen machen Moshpits auch meistens einfach mehr Spaß als, äh, Stühle). 13YC sind immer auf der Suche nach der Minimierung von Machtdynamiken, angefangen bei ihrer eigenen Arbeitsweise. Wenn wir das göttliche Recht von König:innen abschaffen konnten, was können wir dann in den nächsten 13 Jahren schaffen?
13YC aka 13 YEAR CICADA are 3 friends who play samplers and instruments: Philip plays drums plus sampler, Hotti plays bass plus sampler, Zooey plays keys/vocals plus sampler. Their journey together as a band has been going on for seven years now and their growing together as human and musical players promises many more to come. They all have jazz backgrounds, which they thankfully escaped early on. Not for lack of love for the genre, but because it was important to them to grow less part of an elitist and more in DIY structures. And admittedly, mosh pits are also usually just more fun than chairs). 13YC are always looking to minimise power dynamics, starting with their own modus operandi. If we could abolish the divine right of kings and queens, what can we create in the next 13 years?
