Dass hierzulande die widerspenstigen, schärfsten und geilsten Post-Punk Kapellen immer noch am häufigsten aus Berlin kommen, beweist LIIEK auf beeindruckende Art und Weise. Und dass sich Berliner Punkmusiker:innen nicht auf der langen traditionsreichen Musikgeschichte ausruhen, sondern Punk beständig weiterentwickeln, macht extrem viel Spaß und beweist, dass Punk eben doch noch lange nicht tot ist. Der Sound von LIIEK kriegt sie alle eingefangen: Die Hardcore Fans von DIE TÖDLICHE DORIS genauso wie die ernst dreinblickenden MALARIA! Ultras. Dabei ist kein Instrument zu viel im Spiel und Berlin kommt schon auch im extremen Leedskostüm daher. Die Musik ist vielleicht kühl, aber alles andere als seelenlos.
LIIEK impressively proves that the most unruly, sharpest and horniest post-punk bands in this country still come from Berlin. And the fact that Berlin punk musicians don’t rest on their long, traditional musical history, but constantly develop punk further, is a lot of fun and proves that punk is far from dead. LIIEK’s sound captures them all: The hardcore fans of DIE TÖDLICHE DORIS as well as the serious looking MALARIA! Ultras. No instrument is too much in play and Berlin comes along in extreme leeds costume. The music may be cool, but it’s anything but soulless.
